Literally stomach-churning in its sexual politics, suggesting that sex-positive women deserve to be raped (i.e., “forcibly seduced”), along with some shots taken at the 60s protest movement which anticipate Forrest Gump in their mean-spiritedness. Even Ann-Margret’s presence and a funny false-ending gag don’t matter much in such a horrific context.

The problem with all these 50s and 60s' film is that the ending has to be a good one no matter how deviate the major plot seems to be.
